DFT, Surface Profile and Dewpoint gauges

NON-DESTRUCTIVE COATING THICKNESS, SURFACE PROFILE AND TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

Almost all metals undergo a degree of surface preparation before efficiently applying a coating. Depending on an application, a too high Valley to Peak (V/P) ratio will cause insufficient coverage leading to premature rusting. Meanwhile, too low will cause poor adhesion, thus resulting in peeling.

Simultaneously, a metal surface temperature should coincide with the dew point in order to avoid condensation occurring prior to a coating application.

Once the coating has been applied and dried, it’s important to check its thickness is sufficient and abides by the recommended range. Deficient or excessive coating thickness may lead to inadequate protection or sagging.

We at Fischer have developed a range of MMS® Inspection Gauges to check coating thickness, surface roughness, and temperature, and ensure high quality of finished products for our clients.

MMS® INSPECTION DFT
Coating Thickness Measurement on All Types of Metals

MMS Inspection DFT range has been designed for challenging and simple applications where surfaces can be round and flat, and the coating thickness is between 1 and 2,500 microns. Featuring both magnetic induction and eddy current method, the instruments can measure on:

Steel (ferrous) substrates:

  • Zinc, chromium, copper, paint, varnish, and plastic coatings

Non-ferrous metal substrates (e.g. aluminium):

  • Paint, varnish, plastic, or any organic coatings
The instrument is dust-tight, water repellant, and resistant. MMS® Inspection DFT is IP65 rated.

The gauges are applicable for measurements on both smooth and rough surfaces. Additional features include:

  • Wide range of easily selectable languages
  • Second display for reading the measurement results directly on the top side of the instrument
  • Manufacturer’s certificate is included in the scope of supply
  • Extremely easy calibration and normalisation procedure
  • Measurement in “continuous display mode” for running a scan over a region of a surface.
  • Easily interchangeable units of measurement (μm or mils)

Due to their small size (Width: 73 mm or 2.9 “; Depth: 45 mm or 1.8 “; Height: 130 mm or 5.1 “)  and negligent weight (137 grams, including batteries), MMS Inspection DFT can be carried around with you at all times, whether you’re visiting your suppliers, customers or simply carrying out routine inspections on site. Instruments come with 2 batteries, metal calibration plates (ferrous, non-ferrous, or both), and 25, 75, and 540 μm calibration foils.

When selecting the Fischer MMS Inspection range of gauges, choose the type of instrument (Start or High) and the type of substrate you’d like to measure on (Fe – ferrous or Fe+NF – ferrous and non-ferrous). Hit “Get more Information” button to receive a technical datasheet outlining more details about the instrument, pricing, and how to purchase. We will also let you know what the lead times are if the desired item is out of stock.

MMS® INSPECTION SPG
Surface Roughness Measurement on All Types of Metals

With the MMS® Inspection SPG, once-tedious surface inspections can be carried out in no time at all. This handheld gauge determines the profile of the surface precisely and quickly. And you can tell right away whether the reading is within the specification or not by means of an LED light, a sound, and vibrations. The profile measurements comply with ASTM 4417-B and SSPC-PA 17, among others.

Keep full control over your surface profile gauge even under the most adverse conditions: Its ergonomic design and four function keys make it easy to operate with just one hand – even when wearing gloves. And a dust- and waterproof housing (IP65) protects the surface profile gauge. So you always get reliable measurement results, regardless of the conditions you’re working in.

The gauges are applicable for measurements on both smooth and rough surfaces. Additional features include:

  • Wide range of easily selectable languages
  • Second display for reading the measurement results directly on the top side of the instrument
  • Manufacturer’s certificate is included in the scope of supply
  • Extremely easy calibration and normalisation procedure
  • Easily interchangeable units of measurement (μm or mils)

Due to their small size (Width: 73 mm or 2.9 “; Depth: 45 mm or 1.8 “; Height: 151 mm or 5.9 “), MMS Inspection SPG can be carried around with you at all times, whether you’re visiting your suppliers, customers or simply carrying out routine inspections on site. At the same time, the weight of 392 grams with batteries provides the required stability for surface roughness measurements.

When selecting Fischer MMS Inspection SPG range of gauges, choose the type of instrument (Start or High). Hit “Get more Information” button to receive a technical datasheet outlining more details about the instrument, pricing, and how to purchase. We will also let you know what the lead times are if the desired item is out of stock.

MMS® INSPECTION DPM
Determine the Dew Point and Humidity

With this dew point meter, you can easily monitor the climate parameters relevant for your coating processes. The MMS® Inspection DPM reliably measures relative humidity, air temperature and surface temperature, so you can easily calculate the dew point in no time at all.

This dew point meter is extremely robust, dustproof and protected against water jets (IP65). Its compact design and four large buttons allow for easy single-handed operation. This makes it ideal for use under even the most demanding of conditions, for example in heavy-duty corrosion protection. And with its light and sound signals, you always have an overview of the measured dew point values.

MMS® Inspection DPM has the following dimensions and weights:

  • Width: 73 mm or 2.9 “;
  • Depth: 45 mm or 1.8 “;
  • Height: 186 mm or 7.3 “
  • Weight: 259 grams with batteries

When selecting Fischer MMS Inspection DPM range of gauges, choose the type of instrument (Start or High). Hit “Get more Information” button to receive a technical datasheet outlining more details about the instrument, pricing, and how to purchase. We will also let you know what the lead times are if the desired item is out of stock.
